HIHAT PIONEER HOTEL
Project Description
The project site is located within the Ideal Kingdom Resort Town in Haidong Town, Dali City, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. It is a distinctive scenic spot integrating tourism, sightseeing, and leisure. Due to its unique European architectural style and blue and white building features, it is known as the "Little Santorini" of China.
The project building is located at the entrance of the Ideal Kingdom. The main structure is an L-shaped brick-concrete structure with a total area of approximately 4,000 m², including an indoor area of approximately 3,000 m² and an outdoor area of approximately 1,000 m². The building is surrounded by rich natural vegetation. The initial design aimed to avoid damaging the original environmental elements of the site, advocating for a harmonious relationship between the building and the environment. Therefore, the original appearance of the building was preserved, with only the original wall color changed to white, consistent with the color of the buildings within the park.
The entire project encompasses 30 guest rooms and diverse public areas. The gradually elevated platform landscape is interwoven and folded, creating rich and distinct layers of near, medium, and distant views, constructing a spatial symphony full of tension.
Given that Dali is a gathering place for young people from diverse cultures, our company has brought a unique accommodation experience and a bold, fearless, and vibrant lifestyle to the project with a fun atmosphere and a vibrant design.
The design breaks with convention, attracting a younger demographic through innovative styles that blend music, art, design, and pop culture. It aims to redefine perceptions of traditional hotels, creating a sanctuary for passionate, ambitious young individuals.
The hotel's name, HIHAT, is derived from the drumming technique, expressing a vibrant and confident lifestyle. This lifestyle transcends specific locations, extending beyond Dali to encompass dimensions of time and space, and meanings that surpass these boundaries. to explore the interconnected relationship between people and life, and to discuss the dimensional combinations of people with music, art, and design.
Within the architectural and material construction, different spaces exhibit unique rhythms and layers, with relationships that can be interconnected, blurred, and re-associated across various interfaces. The relationship between space and objects is intimate, imbuing the space with both interest and multiple values. Throughout the design process, we integrate music and art into the space, constructing a new spatial narrative. We transform the rhythmic aesthetics of the HIHAT into a design language, akin to controlling the rhythm of a musical piece. This enhances the tension of the space, creating the "HIHAT" composition. As the HIHAT is a musical instrument, we have incorporated furniture and lighting inspired by musical instruments throughout the project's design.
