Shuanqing Bay Wedding House

by Mr. Li Chen

Project Description

The project is located in the central square of Shuangqing Bay Water Street in Fuyang City, adjacent to a tributary of Shuangqing Bay to the north. It is a multifunctional space(500㎡)that can serve as a wedding hall and a temporary performance venue. This project explores the participation of a ceremonial public space in public activities on a square, and demonstrates the shaping of the square atmosphere and dialogue with nature through material selection and spatial path setting.
Facing one side of the river, we designed a ceremonial arched shell and double curved sheet walls on both sides to form a whole. Continuous upward steps are set in the gaps between the curved sheet walls to connect the side plaza, allowing the public space to expand from the ground to the form of the building. On the other hand, the slightly tilted sheet walls create a sense of spatial pressure while walking, similar to the sense of power felt under the flying buttresses on the side of the church. The combination of steel structure and rusty red aluminum plate reflects the strength behind the lightness of metal materials, as well as the natural reaction of metal rusting when exposed to water. Make the relationship between intangible water and tangible buildings closer.

The thinking and research on "Contemporary Forest" also run through every project he designed, from urban design, architectural design, spatial design, to daily furniture installation design, and so on.
