Red Brick Ancient White Hotel
Project Description
Hotel Public Area Design Statement: The Awakening of Red Bricks and the Elegance of Time
This design takes the foot of Qinglong Mountain as its pulse and the rebirth of ancient port as its soul, awakening red bricks through the interplay of light and wood grain, and unfolding an elegant narrative of time and space.
Centuries-old red bricks are revitalized through deconstruction and reassembly—suspended, stacked, and perforated. Light penetrates the brick joints like flowing time, awakening the dormant texture of the material. The brick walls are no longer barriers but vessels of light, with warm illumination seeping through and natural light shifting throughout the day. The weight of history breathes lightly within a contemporary context, becoming a vessel of time and space.
Warm wood grain and arched structures soften the ruggedness of bricks, creating an atmosphere where reality and illusion coexist. In the corridors, layered light and shadow through the arches guide footsteps like poetic verses; in the lounge, the high-ceilinged space features suspended arrays of ancient bricks, with natural light cascading down and greenery climbing up, where roughness and transparency, history and vitality resonate together. Light and shadow, the silent artist, sketches different moods throughout the day between the bricks and wood grains, blending strength and softness, reality and illusion into a living painting.
The space unfolds in a "step-by-step scenery" sequence: the entrance, like a hidden mountain cave, blends rainforest murals with light-and-shadow brick walls; the corridor's brick rhythm sings, with wood and stone setting the pace; the lounge, resembling a reborn ancient castle, sees red brick arrays and greenery narrating the grandeur of time under the play of light and clouds. Guests walking through feel as if treading through the wrinkles of time, completing a ritual that awakens all five senses in the symphony of materials and art.
Through modern techniques, the design activates historical materials, allowing red bricks to breathe within the play of light, and the space to grow through the dialogue between past and present, ultimately crystallizing into an elegant place that carries memories and exudes poetic grace.
