Project Description

Neither Japanese nor Western: “Colonial Modern”
Colonialism refers to the culture born from centuries of Western colonial rule in Asia.
Colonial design skillfully incorporates elements from both Eastern and Western cultures, elevating them into a unique design style.
It creates entirely new spaces where the wisdom of different cultures meets, sparks a chemical reaction, and fuses together through mutual recognition of each other's strengths.
A new design sensibility that is neither Eastern nor Western, and certainly not purely Japanese or purely Western. Infused with a contemporary sense of “now,” it creates a space that is one-of-a-kind, found only here.
