L’ECAILLER 8TH SEA OYSTER TAKANAWA

An oyster bar opened on the 3rd floor of NEWoMan TAKANAWA MIMURE.
The space was designed based on MIMURE’s design concept of “Less, but richer,” which values essential richness found beyond material decoration, while also emphasizing the restaurant’s individuality and presence.
“L’Ecailler” is the French word for an oyster shucker.
The live-style counter, where oysters are shucked in front of guests, and the large table at the storefront were stylishly finished using the same plaster material as the walls. In contrast, the oyster showcase and display shelves behind the counter create a lively atmosphere and clearly express the restaurant’s identity.
Further inside the restaurant, spacious bench seating unfolds.
The brass-framed glass partition behind the benches, which also serves to screen the escalator area, was designed in reference to the name “8TH SEA” and is composed of eight different types of glass, including patterned glass.
The horizontally laid white tiles on the walls are a signature material used throughout the brand’s affiliated stores.
To differentiate the private room located at the back from the main dining hall, white brick tiles with a rich texture—similar in appearance to the white wall tiles—were selected.
