Hidden in the City

Project Description

Designed with Japanese aesthetics as its theme, the space seamlessly blends natural light with warm tones to create a pure and tranquil atmosphere. Lattices are incorporated to infuse a profound sense of Japanese charm, while subtle metallic accents exude a subdued shine, achieving a harmonious resonance between Japanese elegance and modern sophistication.
The original layout featured a slightly larger entrance area. Therefore, the addition of a storage room can meet the homeowner's storage needs. The storage room is designed with an angled layout to enhance the flow of movement and amplify the sense of visual depth upon entry, achieving a balance between functionality and aesthetics. The see-through lattice door and the glass and metal screen create a striking contrast between rigidity and softness, adding visual intrigue to the room.
The TV wall continues the concept of "transparency" by incorporating cut-out sections to open up the space visually. Gray-toned plaster is applied to the feature wall to add a sense of stability as well as enhancing its visual weight, preventing it from appearing overly lightweight. A low beam above is softened with wood accents to alleviate any sense of oppression. Its extended, enveloping design creates a multidimensional corridor. The mellow wood accents balance the cool hardness of the gray plaster, while natural light filters through louvered windows, oozing a cozy and inviting ambiance. The wall behind the sofa integrates storage and niche displays, maintaining a streamlined appearance. Paint finishes exemplify the minimalist and unadorned essence of Japanese interior design. In the dining area, a semi-open layout offers a degree of privacy. A half-height bar counter, adorned with gray-white stone patterns, adds a touch of understated luxury while enhancing functionality for a seamless culinary experience. The serene bedroom features fluted glass panels embedded in the walls, gently filtering daylight into the space. Vertical grooves on the fluted glass diffuse the light, fostering a calm, natural ambiance ideal for restful sleep.
