Hearth & Hide
Project Description
This residence takes dark walnut and black tones as the keynote to create a quiet space that combines retro texture and modern functions. Through the collision of dark wooden wall panels, matte black metal details, and black leather soft furnishings, it creates a calm atmosphere like an old movie.
Material Narrative: The simple log texture of the floor and the warm texture of custom furniture neutralize the coldness of the black leather sofa; the green mosaic tiles dotted on the wall become the finishing touch in the dark tone, metaphorizing the precipitation of time.
Spatial Logic: In the open kitchen and dining room layout, modern embedded glass sliding doors are used to divide functional areas, which not only meets the cooking needs of Chinese families but also satisfies the transparency of modern life. The living room area uses a dark wood-colored sideboard as the background, while the TV wall is left blank, allowing the space to have a rhythmic pause.
Design Philosophy: Abandoning flashy decorative symbols, it instead uses layers of color and materials to tell a symbiotic relationship between "old-world elegance" and "contemporary restraint".
