Beijing Nanshan Courtyard Homestay Renovation
Project Description
This project is located in a mountain village in Miyun District, Beijing. The original building featured rough and simple red brick exterior walls, a disordered courtyard, and featureless interior spaces. However, it boasts an impressive mountain view to the south. Both the building area and courtyard area are 180 square meters respectively, and the client had a limited renovation budget.
Guided by the low-cost design strategy, the designer simplified construction techniques and adopted affordable building materials. In terms of spatial planning, the design maximizes the integration of the southern mountain scenery into the interior, creating a harmonious and delightful spatial scene that connects indoor and outdoor areas. As a result, the final construction cost was 30% lower than the market average.
