Amari – Slimline Hybrid Window Systems

by AAD X RitikaaWood

Project Description

Born of Dvaita, of dialogue between materials, disciplines, and minds; it evolved into Advaita, where those differences dissolved into a seamless whole. At the heart of Amari lies a quiet duality; a dialogue between opposites that together create balance. Organic wood meets precise metal; the warmth of craft meets the rigour of engineering. It is a system born of contrast; the magnanimity and tactile comfort of timber held within the restraint and minimalism of aluminium. Each element tempers the other; art and logic, intuition and calculation, form and function.
The idea for Amari began with a recurring design problem. We found that traditional timber windows, while warm and tactile, often appeared visually heavy in contemporary architecture. Aluminium systems, on the other hand, offered precision but lacked material presence. The search was for balance, a window that could bring the clarity of modern engineering with the quiet authenticity of wood.
The result is Amari, a decade-long dialogue between architect and engineer, between thinking and making.
At its core is a refined 37mm composite section- a precision-engineered 12mm aluminium structural profile seamlessly integrated with 25mm of Accoya® wood. The materials function as one assembly, combining dimensional accuracy, stability and durability within a visually light frame. Refined over a decade of development and prototyping, each junction and proportion reflects sustained engineering discipline and material clarity.
3D adjustable hinges, ultra-smooth stainless steel rollers and a multipoint locking mechanism are carefully embedded within the section, maintaining clean sightlines and operational precision. A discreet, integrated drainage pathway is built into the system, preserving uninterrupted elevations while ensuring long-term weather resilience.
It demonstrates that sustainability, technology, and craft can coexist naturally, and that design, when pursued with patience and care, can quietly redefine an entire typology. A window that reflects how design evolves when curiosity meets craft.

AAD X RitikaaWood

AAD is the creative vision of multidisciplinary designer and architect Amaresh Anand. Guided by the belief that meaningful design emerges from curiosity, restraint and human experience, AAD explores the intersection of architecture, product design and material innovation to create objects that are both purposeful and enduring.
This philosophy found its engineering counterpart in RitikaaWood, a timber engineering company with expertise in high-performance timber systems, precision engineering and the thoughtful application of wood in contemporary architecture. Together, AAD and RitikaaWood bring complementary disciplines into dialogue—design and engineering, intuition and precision, craft and technology—to develop architectural products that challenge convention while remaining grounded in performance, longevity and material integrity.
Amari is the first expression of this collaboration, representing over a decade of shared exploration, refinement and a commitment to redefining the contemporary window system.
