Guigu Hilltop Retreat

Guangzhou Guigu Technology Park, led by the international design giant Gensler, is located in Guangzhou Science City, one of the ten core innovation platforms in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Guangzhou-Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Corridor. The park is nestled in a mountainous and waterfront area, with a total building area of 300,000 square meters. Its aim is to create a new type of professional service platform that integrates technology, culture, art, and ecology, providing headquarters offices, technology incubation and acceleration, industrial ecological cultivation, and living facilities.
The Guigu Mountain Retreat, designed by TC DESIGN, is situated within the Guigu Technology Park and serves as a highly functional and visually appealing architectural piece. It combines a tea room, small meeting spaces, and recreational areas into one. Given the positioning of the technology park and the small scale of the mountain retreat (only 50 square meters), the designer aimed for it to "stand out in the forest" and blend harmoniously with the surrounding buildings and natural scenery without being overwhelmed. The architectural outline is inspired by the graceful form of a crane spreading its wings and taking flight. With a fully glass curtain wall, it resembles a pristine and lightweight white crane landing among the buildings and trees in the technology park, showcasing a sense of futurism and technology. In the evening, the mountain retreat shines brightly with lights, providing warmth and guidance, attracting people to unfold their stories here. It is an interesting architectural piece that brings about significant effects in a small space.
