IDPA Japan Design Award

Wa-In New Genesis

by M.Y. STUDIO INTERIOR DESIGN

Project Description

"Harmony" represents the Japanese style, while "Rhythm" embodies the ambiance and elegance. "New Life" highlights the reimagining and rejuvenation of Japanese style within a modern minimalist framework. The core design concept is to create a modern Japanese-style residence with a high-end feel, blending traditional Japanese elements with contemporary minimalist trends. This approach breaks away from conventional Japanese aesthetics, creating a refined and harmonious Japanese-style home that aligns with the current aesthetic standards in China.
The overall design employs natural wood and white as the primary decorative colors, maintaining the traditional Japanese style. The bold addition of walnut wood as an accent adds a touch of innovation. The use of three-dimensional geometric shapes, combined with Japanese elements, creates a minimalist yet sophisticated space. Inspired by traditional Japanese table settings, the sunken entrance features a glass entryway. The lattice sliding door design draws inspiration from Japanese paper doors, and the selection of various soft furnishings and lighting fixtures is carefully thought out to harmonize with the Japanese aesthetic. The three-section bathroom, a key feature of Japanese residences, is meticulously designed to reflect the main theme of the Japanese style. The absence of a main light and the use of minimalist craftsmanship add a modern, minimalist elegance to the overall design. A specially designed cat tree partition area enhances the interaction between the house and its owner.
