Toi San Public Toilet, Macau

by Urban Practice - Architecture, Urban Planning and Design, Ltd.

Project Description

The public toilet is located in a small park near Toi San, Macau and is used daily by locals as a place for exercise and social interaction. Our aim was to achieve a harmonious integration with the park surroundings, showcasing greenery through the use of green and sustainable strategies. Our architectural concept was inspired by its location in the park and the history of the site as the site of a small vegetable garden. We proposed a contemporary approach to extending the mass of the existing building, this new architectural language uses modular planting fixtures to create a sophisticated original architectural display of green and sustainable design in a local community hub space.
