The Noble Lounge

by THATISITH INTERIOR CO.,LTD.

Project Description

The inspiration for this lounge stems from the overall context of the project - a luxury home with a colonial essence amidst the grand garden.
We've designed this lounge to evoke the feeling of a private study and reception room of our grandfather
- a venerable old nobleman, blending the ambiance of the Thai Renaissance period during the reign of King Rama V.
This era marked a time of prosperity and flourishing trade with foreign countries for Thailand.
We aim to create an atmosphere that transports you back in time, reminiscent of visiting your grandparents' home in your childhood.
The olive green walls and ceiling were chosen to evoke the colonial homes of the past. The flower vases that grandma used to arrange for grandpa, the intricately carved Burmese wooden table placed on the specially commissioned black-and-white marble floor, inspired by his European travels, and grandpa's magnifying glass for reading the morning newspaper—all these elements serve as nostalgic decor in this room.
The furniture and decor reflect a blend of styles and cultures: a European fireplace, French crystal chandeliers, delicately carved Thai wooden chairs, Persian rugs, Indian silk pillows, and cast metal bird wall lamps from China.
These pieces were collected during grandpa's travels and form his personal collection.
The butler's table, bar, and small pantry that once served grandpa and his guests have now been repurposed as a reception counter to welcome clients. The original seating set, featuring various styles of furniture, including a meeting table for small gatherings, has been preserved as it was.
The old spiral staircase, which leads to the glasshouse on the rooftop, is still in use as an office space above.
The restrooms have been divided into male and female sections, with the ladies' room designed in the favorite red rose color of grandma and the men's room in the green hues of the bonsai trees that grandpa loved to prune in his spare time in the glasshouse.
This lounge, besides serving as a luxurious yet cozy reception and relaxation area for the homeowners, also acts as a bridge connecting family members, evoking warmth and familiarity each time they use it.
It is a space that brings back cherished childhood memories and will continue to create lasting memories for future generations.
