The metaphor of the courtyard

by Chen Haopeng

Project Description

The project is located in a factory and is designed for the public areas of two exhibition halls of the homewear brand Suidemei ×. The public area not only connects the moving lines of the two brand exhibition halls, but also undertakes external functions such as "salon activities, shows, and receptions".
The theme of the design is "the courtyard of images", which creates a translucent state through pure geometric construction and free flowing spatial form, containing a sense of ignorance and exploration. The contrast between the point and the line extends the infinite sense of the picture, making the space continue to extend in three dimensions, and finally focusing on a visual center.
In terms of spatial layout, the atrium becomes the core image. Through the static "black mirror" material and dynamic screen projection, combined with the mapping of natural light, the artistic conception of "horizontal mirror of the lake, breeze blowing, blue waves rippling" is formed. This technique of interweaving virtuality and reality not only allows the viewer to have an association with the outside world, but also enables the work to breathe between reality and concept, abandoning the straightforward expression and creating a hazy and profound aesthetic experience. The choice of materials and the use of light and shadow further strengthen the sense of hierarchy and fluidity of the space, so that the functionality and artistry reach a delicate balance.
