IMI Office
Project Description
The new IMI Singapore workplace redefines the conventional office by transforming it into a dynamic destination that nurtures belonging, inspires growth, and empowers purpose. Rooted in the concept of “Engineering a Better Workspace,” the design integrates workplace effectiveness, human-centric experiences, and brand identity into a cohesive spatial narrative. Every component within the workplace was thoughtfully curated to support care, curiosity, collaboration, and impact, reflecting the same values IMI brings to every client journey. Rather than designing a space where people simply accommodate the environment, the new workplace prototype was intentionally crafted around people, enabling flexibility, connection, and meaningful experiences throughout the workday.
The spatial planning strategy focuses on breakthrough thinking, connectivity, and adaptability. Anchored by a centralized social hub, the workplace encourages interaction and community-building while supporting diverse work modes. The concept of “kits of parts” was introduced as a design language where brand vision translates into form, function, and feeling. From the arrival experience to collaborative zones, every space reinforces IMI’s identity through materiality, spatial rhythm, and integrated branding elements. The reception and experience centre create a strong first impression through immersive digital storytelling, featuring LED display walls and interactive showcase elements that communicate IMI’s innovation-driven culture and capabilities.
The workplace supports a broad spectrum of workstyles through carefully planned spatial typologies. Focus work areas include ergonomically designed bench-type workstations, semi-enclosed focus tables with acoustic screening, and phone pods strategically positioned away from circulation routes to reduce distractions. Private offices are designed not only for concentrated work but also for spontaneous collaboration, complete with integrated discussion areas. Flexible meeting environments such as stretch meeting rooms and modular conference spaces accommodate both small discussions and large-scale townhall events, supported by configurable furniture systems and operable walls for multifunctional use.
A key breakthrough in the project lies in its emphasis on workplace experience and adaptability. The townhall area functions as a multifunctional social and communication platform, equipped with modular furniture and projector integration to support presentations, training sessions, and community events. Complementing this are movable training tables, interactive display areas, brainstorming rooms, work cafés, semi-private collaboration spaces, phone booths, wellness rooms, and a back-of-house pantry, all contributing to a workplace ecosystem that prioritizes wellbeing, flexibility, and engagement.
The IMI workplace represents a shift away from rigid, assigned desking towards a more agile and human-centered environment. By fostering connectivity, supporting diverse modes of work, and embedding brand identity into every spatial touchpoint, the project establishes a new workplace prototype for the future, one that is not just functional, but experiential, memorable, and deeply connected to the people who use it every day.
