House in Sag Harbor
Project Description
This house was designed for a couple who wanted a country house in Sag Harbor. They already had this site overlooking an inlet and wanted something they could use alone as well as with a group of friends. The Living Room overlooks the bay and has access at a bar to the kitchen… There is free flow in this main space from the entry to the Living room, all spaces are interrelated so they can be as large or small as needed for any event.
The plan is 2 equal size rectangles rotated at one corner 10 degrees, this allowed a covered entry and deck on the first floor, and all bedrooms have access to a private deck on the second floor.
Our work emphasizes poetic experience with a strong connection to the landscape and light is a primary material, creating spatial experiences that inspire, calm and energize. A good space is one where people want to stay whether gathering or meditating alone.

I am a modernist architect and have a strong sense of the environment where a project will be done. As Landmarks chairman of CB5 in Manhattan for 1980-1991, I have strong experience in the importance of defending the physical property of the city.
We design for a robust and well-built architecture that lives well in its surroundings, understanding the culture of a place. I work with my clients to understand what their interests and needs are so that their project can be designed to create spatial experiences that give them joy and inspiration as well as dependable sense of comfort. There’s a story behind every house. Most of my projects are modern whether they are new or renovation which will get the most aesthetic quality out of the dollar.
