Green Liveable City

"Green Liveable City” is more than an exhibition - it’s a vibrant and interactive experience that transforms complex ideas about sustainability into playful discovery for the next generation. Located in Hong Kong’s City Gallery and commissioned by the Planning Department of HKSAR, this permanent installation redefines how public space can educate, engage and empower.
Through immersive storytelling and themed zones, the exhibition leads visitors on a journey from understanding the balance between development and nature to imagining a shared, sustainable future. Highlights include a “15-minute Neighbourhood” simulator for young city planners designing walkable and traffic-friendly communities; a "Blue-Green Infrastructure” model showing real-world climate resilience strategies; and a whimsical play area with treehouses, wildlife soundscapes and gamified learning. Each zone merges entertainment and education to build awareness in a way that is intuitive, impactful and fun.
Sustainability is deeply embedded not only in the content but in the design itself - modular fixtures made from recycled materials, energy-efficient lighting and digital interactive reduce waste while enhancing the visitor experience.
But what truly sets "Green Liveable City” apart is its social vision. It positions children and teens as co-creators of tomorrow’s urban environments, sparking curiosity, critical thinking and community-mindedness. Combining design innovation with environmental advocacy, the project invites visitors to do more than learn - it invites them to act.
This is a space where education becomes adventure, and sustainability becomes personal. By empowering children and teens as future changemakers, "Green Liveable City” transcends traditional exhibits. It acts as a community platform to promote awareness, responsibility, and shared action - paving the way for a greener and more resilient Hong Kong.
