Project Description

The residential unit subject to the intervention is located in the historic center of Padua, near Venice (Italy), in a palace built by the Obizzi family in the 14th century. The apartment overlooks the street and the main courtyard and consists of two levels. The architectural project by Architettura Tommasi involves the restoration of the interiors and the redesign of the spaces, maintaining the historical identity by enhancing the Venetian terrace and using high-sustainability clay plasters from Naturalia-Bau. The intervention centers around a new spiral staircase in iron treated with matte black anti-fingerprint paint, which connects to a new cantilevered balcony in the double-height entrance space, freeing up service areas on both floors. In the kitchen area, custom furniture has been designed to serve a dual function, both as a kitchen and living room, using black custom-made MDF furniture with a matte black finish and anti-fingerprint and anti-scratch treatment. The two black volumes and the table open when the space is used as a kitchen, closing completely to become continuous surfaces for the rest of the day. The lighting system and design were designed and curated by Viabizzuno.
