Gather Treasures,Blooming Flower
Project Description
Gather Treasures, Blooming Flower is a lacquer sculpture that combines traditional Eastern culture with contemporary art. It features flowing lacquer and gold techniques and is completely handcrafted with great attention to detail. From the initial design and shaping of the wooden frame to the careful polishing, multiple layers of lacquer, and the final burnishing and drying, every step reflects the skill and dedication of the lacquer artisans and highlights both the beauty and craftsmanship of traditional techniques.
The design of Gather Treasures, Blooming Flower is inspired by the symbolic meanings of “flowers” and “brocade” in Eastern tradition. Flowers represent the blossoming of life and hope, while brocade symbolizes wealth, beauty, and cultural depth. Using these themes as a guide, the designer combines Eastern object aesthetics with contemporary art styles, and turns traditional lacquer techniques into a sculptural form that adds depth to the space.
Gather Treasures, Blooming Flower takes inspiration from the organic shapes of flowers and the cultural symbolism behind the word “brocade.” The design features a blooming flower form with soft, flowing curves that layer like satin, creating an elegant and luxurious Eastern feel. The piece has strong visual appeal, inviting viewers to get closer and appreciate the interplay of textures and layers. It combines the calm, understated qualities of lacquer with the flowing gold accents, and creates a refined yet warm atmosphere. The surface is finished using flowing lacquer and gold techniques, giving it a natural, glossy texture and rich, deep colors that reflect the spirit of Eastern art. Gather Treasures, Blooming Flower combines traditional lacquer techniques with modern artistic expressions, giving it both cultural depth and visual impact. The piece starts with a high-quality wooden base, which is carefully sanded to a smooth finish. Then, multiple layers of lacquer are applied by hand using traditional flowing lacquer and gold techniques. Each layer’s flow and absorption are carefully controlled to create a delicate texture that looks like intricate floral patterns, similar to brocade. It blends sculpture, lacquer techniques, and visual design into a single piece, and gives a modern twist to traditional craftsmanship. As a result, each Gather Treasures, Blooming Flower is unique, impossible to mass-produce or copy.
Gather Treasures, Blooming Flower not only symbolizes wealth and good fortune but also conveys the delicate, smooth beauty of its materials. It integrates the meanings of blessings and protection into the aesthetics of the space, offering a spiritual anchor for peace, health, happiness, and harmony in daily life. More than just an artwork, Gather Treasures, Blooming Flower is a contemporary expression that carries Eastern emotions and culture. The creation of this piece aims to rekindle public recognition of the beauty of Eastern intangible cultural heritage, spark interest and respect for traditional culture among younger generations, and, as a form of space art, elevate cultural sophistication while reshaping the value of “Eastern aesthetics” in today’s context.
