Endless
Project Description
The project is located on the 25th and 26th floors of a high-rise building, offering a stunning panoramic view of the city skyline and nightscape. Designed with privacy and comfort as its core principles, the space serves as an exclusive venue for the owner's private gatherings, social events, and entertainment activities, creating a secluded haven amidst the bustling city.
The guesthouse is named "Infinity," symbolizing boundless imagination and freedom. Inspired by this concept, the design integrates elements of futurism and the vastness of the cosmos. Through the careful selection of materials, manipulation of light and shadow, and rhythmic spatial transitions, the space offers a refreshing and extraordinary experience. It creates an atmosphere that flows between mystery and openness, allowing every gathering to feel like a journey through time and space, embracing endless possibilities.
Rooted in the concept of "Infinity," the design draws inspiration from futuristic technologies and cosmic voyages, integrating the following key features to create a fully immersive and otherworldly experience:
Floating Robot Installation
At the entrance, a floating robot greets visitors with a striking sense of levitation, made possible through concealed supports and suspension techniques. It symbolizes the beginning of an intelligent exploration journey, immediately immersing guests in the theme of boundless discovery.
Infinity Mirror Space Extension
Extensive use of infinity mirrors creates a mesmerizing illusion of infinite depth, dissolving spatial boundaries and evoking the feeling of traveling through endless galaxies.
Mechanical Hatch Doorways
The entrances are designed as mechanical hatch doors, using metal finishes and kinetic structures to enhance the sci-fi ambiance. Each opening and closing becomes a ceremonial act, marking a symbolic passage between dimensions.
Stainless Steel Reflective Ceiling and Floor
Highly polished stainless steel surfaces on both ceiling and floor reflect the environment, producing an illusion of weightlessness and spatial disorientation, reinforcing the theme of transcending gravity and time.
Lighting and Material Rhythm
Lighting primarily features cool whites and deep blues, interwoven with color-shifting LEDs to mimic the dynamic spectrum of cosmic light. The materials balance between metallic hardness and the soft warmth of leather accents, creating a futuristic yet subtly humanized spatial texture.
1. Insufficient Ceiling Height in an Aging Building
Challenge:
The project site, located within an aging building, faced restrictions due to the original structural conditions, resulting in insufficient ceiling height and a sense of compression. Major structural modifications were not feasible.
Solution:
A layered ceiling design was implemented, incorporating localized depressions and elevations, combined with lighting guidance to create a dynamic spatial rhythm. Reflective materials, such as stainless steel mirrors, were extensively used to blur spatial boundaries through the play of light and shadow, visually extending the height and creating a sense of weightlessness.
Result:
Successfully alleviated the issue of low ceilings while enhancing the overall spatial perception with a futuristic and theatrical atmosphere.
2. Creating Distinct Themes and Atmospheres Across Three Guest Spaces
Challenge:
The project was divided into three independent guest spaces, requiring each to have a distinct thematic identity while maintaining an overall coherent style.
Solution:
Each room was assigned a specific thematic concept—"Garden of Rippling Light," "Steel Jungle," and "Lightyear Bar." Differentiated material selections, lighting tones, and design vocabularies were employed to establish unique atmospheres. At the same time, unifying elements such as metallic textures and futuristic lighting accents were maintained to ensure visual cohesion across the spaces.
Result:
Each room achieved a strong thematic character, allowing users to experience diverse atmospheres while ensuring a layered, memorable guest experience.
3. Integration of Audio-Visual Systems and Acoustic Engineering for Entertainment Functions
Challenge:
As the space was intended primarily for entertainment and social gatherings, it needed to deliver high-quality audio-visual performance, privacy, and effective sound insulation, all within the limitations of an old building.
Solution:
Audio and projection equipment were discreetly integrated within the construction layers, and independent sound fields were planned for each room. High-performance soundproof panels, acoustic wall structures, and low-frequency control techniques were utilized to minimize sound leakage and enhance internal audio clarity. Adjustable lighting and sound modes were incorporated to cater to various gathering scenarios.
Result:
Achieved seamless integration between the audio-visual systems and the spatial design, providing users with an immersive, private, and high-quality entertainment environment.
This project strikes a balance between aesthetics and sustainability by using high-quality artificial materials, durable recyclable stainless steel, and low-VOC paints, minimizing resource consumption and air pollution. Energy-efficient lighting and high-performance HVAC systems, enhanced with smart controls, optimize energy use. From material choices to system integration, the design embodies sustainability, durability, and efficiency, setting a new low-carbon, healthy living standard for modern urban life.
