D-LOUNGE
Project Description
We were entrusted with the design of D-LOUNGE. Located in the center of Luhu Food Island, Chengdu, this project is a cigar-themed restaurant and bar. The lakeside location gives the building more display surfaces, and the outdoor seating area facing the lake offers more extendable space.
The black exterior walls are largely filled with Mandao stones. The stainless steel structure divides and deconstructs the huge black mass, maintaining symmetry in both horizontal and vertical directions. Elements with industrial symbols are integrated into the structural treatment of the building's facade. The visual language of the industrial era breaks traditional and conservative social rules in a radical way, creating a concentrated visual impact.
The main entrance is designed as a double entrance, with a movable installation display stand interspersed at the centerline. Its usage function can be set according to different periods and needs. When closing at night, the display stand can be pushed into the interior space, and all openings on the facade are closed by electric sliding doors.
The bottom of the display stand is equipped with a built-in pulley track to meet the needs of multi-functional scenarios and enable flexible movement.
The materials on the facade form a sharp contrast between coarse-grained Mandao stones and frosted metallic surfaces. The facade structure forms a symmetrical and regular sequence in modules. The large black exterior walls fully interact with sunlight, creating another changing texture, like a natural canvas that shows different dynamic stages during the day.
The entrance hall serves as a brand display area while incorporating retail space. The black mirror on the ceiling extends the space vertically, enhancing visual openness. The retail areas on both sides are integrated with the facade structure, ensuring the visual unity of the overall space while meeting functional requirements.
Light-emitting bodies and metal structures are interspersed in the thick mass of the space, where materials, light and shadow, and spatial relationships overlap and connect. The private room area is mainly for business customers, with spatial visuals and soft furnishings highlighting business and casual reception functions. The walls are mainly made of stone and translucent artistic glass, with different layers of light and shadow running through the entire space to create rich visual effects. The use of custom furniture and lighting integrates into the overall space, creating a low-key and luxurious atmosphere.
The main hall's scattered table area and cigar display area are interlaced. The tabletops provide functional lighting for dining, while the space environment is dimmer to suit the brand's dining scenario. Each table is softly partitioned by a serving cabinet, increasing privacy while meeting the needs of serving and storage. The integration of mirrored stainless steel and black metal adds delicate details.
Creating a sense of surprise through structure and height difference within the limited space reduces the feeling of crampedness. The full combination of light films and structures creates a unique atmosphere.
