Project Title: Courtyard No.6
Project Background:
This project is a street-facing commercial space located in the central business district of Tianjin, covering an area of 220 square meters. The owner is a young man planning to open a whiskey bar. While the client favors traditional Chinese aesthetics, whiskey bars are inherently a modern trend imported from Western culture. Therefore, the design aims to integrate traditional Chinese motifs with contemporary trendy styles, creating a unique whiskey bar experience.
Design Concept:
The theme revolves around the fusion of traditional Chinese and modern Western styles. Key design strategies include:
Incorporating structural motifs from Chinese architecture into the facade, corridor ceilings, and spatial partitions, paired with sustainable medieval furniture and decorative doors/windows. Adopting modern design principles for the bar counter, corridors, soft furnishings, and lighting to achieve visual interplay. Defining the style as Eclecticism, emphasizing balanced proportions and pure aesthetic form. Traditional Chinese elements are reinterpreted without rigid stylistic constraints, dissecting relationships between time, space, nature, and humanity. Contradictory materials or elements are harmoniously layered to create a distinctive new composition.
Color Scheme:
Low-saturation warm tones paired with wood textures to evoke tranquility.
Material Innovations:
Modern metal replaces traditional wood for arched beams in corridors.
Mirrored surfaces on booth walls and bar ceilings enhance spatial depth through reflection. Reeded glass for interior windows and partitions, and metallic ripple-textured panels on booth ceilings. These materials amplify a futuristic, tech-inspired ambiance when illuminated.
Objective:
The project strives to create a whiskey bar appealing to diverse age groups. By seamlessly blending modern trends with classical traditions, Courtyard No.6 offers a welcoming atmosphere for both young and middle-aged patrons. We hope every visitor feels a sense of warmth and belonging here.
