Project Description
Located on the basement level of a shopping mall, the chuchulab is more than just a dessert shop—it’s an immersive experience that brings the concept of an “urban valley” to life. The design blends natural charm and Eastern aesthetics to create a space that feels both lively and warm. Through meticulous spatial planning, material selection, and lighting design, the chuchulab breaks away from the conventional linear layout of traditional retail spaces, offering a unique environment that is as functional as it is artistic.
Gone are the monotonous parallel arrangements typical of retail spaces. Instead, the design features a triangular central island as the visual focal point. This not only enhances the visual impact but also creates a sense of flow and layering. Flanking the central island are both seated and standing dining areas, providing customers with flexible options while alleviating visual congestion and enhancing the rhythm of the space.
One of the biggest challenges of a basement location is the lack of natural light. To address this, the lighting design is carefully crafted to mimic the soft glow of sunlight. The gentle light cascades over curved walls and lush greenery, evoking the serene image of sunlight filtering through a valley. This subtle yet impactful effect enhances the dining experience, making it feel more relaxed and enjoyable. The warm, earthy color palette further enhances this atmosphere, adding a sense of coziness, lightness, and layered sophistication.
The ceiling design is equally thoughtful, with elegant arcs and gentle curves that create a warm atmosphere, echoing the softness of the cakes served in the shop. Underfoot, the combination of rugged limestone tiles and raw concrete flooring strikes a perfect balance between refinement and simplicity. This interplay of materials grounds the space with a sense of calmness and understated elegance. Mirrored elements are strategically placed to improve visual permeability, with their reflections enhancing visual layering and adding a playful, interactive quality to the environment.
We are an innovative commercial space design company, focusing on the design of food and beverage spaces, covering restaurants, light meals, desserts and beverages. Commercial space design is not only the construction of space, but also the medium between brands and users, and becomes the carrier of brand information and emotion.
In the design, we integrate the unique cultural values of the brand, highlight the internal consistency of the design, and adhere to the modern design concept. People-centered design thinking runs through it, creating a functional and comfortable space, while focusing on the sustainable development of design, finding the optimal solution for the balance between space function and aesthetics, and creating a unique and creative dining space.
