A Flowing Symbiotic Arena:Philosophy of Living

by Qiu Yikai

Project Description

In Shenzhen, a city brimming with vitality and charm, the veteran luxury apartments that have stood the test of time once epitomized past glories and opulent lifestyles. However, as the years have passed, the original property layouts from 20 years ago have gradually become subtly disconnected from the current multifaceted, efficient, and emotionally connected way of living.
To bridge this gap, we boldly dismantled the rigid “functional boundaries” in traditional homes and redefined living spaces from a completely new perspective. We introduced the concept of a theatrical scene, carefully restructured the functional relationships within the space, and employed a “dynamic symbiosis” design language to skillfully build a continuous dialogue between the residents, the space, family members, pets, and even the entire city.
Imagine a 4.9-meter-high floor-to-ceiling sliding door, like a light and graceful curtain slowly unfolding, bringing the magnificent city skyline into this living theater without any reserva-tion. By reorganizing the partition walls, the daily activities of the family are perfectly inte-grated into an open and dynamic large space. The breathable partitions, acting as the veins of the space, work in harmony with the carefully planned circulation routes, allowing different family members to both immerse themselves in warm family gatherings and comfortably handle their own private affairs, achieving a perfect balance between public and private realms.
