GARAKU ROPPONGI

by ODEONS co.,ltd

Project Description

A hidden bar quietly nestled in a small building in Tokyo,Japan.
Based on the theme of “a joyful place,” the space is designed with a Japanese aesthetic, using bamboo as the main material. Various sizes and types of bamboo, carefully selected with the cooperation of Taketoku Shoten in Kyoto, are used throughout.
The ceiling canopy features an X motif arranged in a pattern carefully planned to avoid interference with the downlights.
Through collaboration with a graphic designer, even ready-made materials took on new expressions. With added graphics on washi paper, metal sheets, and mirrors, these elements became elegant yet playful and entertaining.
The side VIP sofa area features panels from the JOTARO SAITO brand, known for pursuing the fun and charm of Nishijin-ori textiles.
While the overall atmosphere remains composed and refined, the U-shaped counter and added karaoke bring a sense of lively fun. The restroom is hidden behind a secret door, and guests are guided with the phrase, “Press the golden bamboo,” which brings a sense of playful delight.
Since its opening, this bar has become a place filled with countless memories.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to Mr. X, who created this place with unwavering passion. (EIICHI MARUYAMA/ODEONS)
